Rule of Thirds

So I wanted to practice a little so my first two images are of a tree, Then I decided to bring my dog Riley in for some photo ops since he loves having his picture taken!

The photo of the tree in the center lacks depth and is rather boring. The one on the right using the rule of thirds gives the photo more depth and is much more appealing.

#1 This photo has more to look at and having the subject a little off center helps to balance the image.

This photo is nice but lacks balance and depth. #2

  1. Hey Naomi I saw nobody commented on these yet, so I decided to give you my input :) Out of the first two photos of the tree, I like the first one even though we are taught to use the rule of thirds. I like the first one better because the tree is pretty much a straight line up and down which in my opinion, looks better centered. I also feel like the first photo gives a little more depth than the second one.

I like photo #6 of the dog. The depth is great and the greenery and mystique of the woods looks spectacular :)
